Ah, the perfect day

Got going early with a trip to the grocery store for breakfast; all we had in the place was sausage and SPAM. Half a mile from home on the return trip, the engine starts making a Sound. it sounds like just the engine itself, only louder, so I figure it's an exhaust system issue, probably close to the manifold, maybe the pipe weld broke. At this oit its about an hour and a half to our first gig, so we pack up & get the truck to the nearest mechanic, who drives us into our gig before checking out the problem. Thanks to the auto shop guys we're on time, and the library gig goes quite well. The librarian, Christine, actually rides us back to the mechanic's with all our stuff once she's done. Without these people, believe me, we'd have had a very different day.
At the shop Chris tell us it's actually a bit deeper than that, it seems to be an inside the engine. Against all likelihood, something inside the engine of a well-kept Ford F-250 is a bit awry. Possibly a bad lifter, a thrown rod even less likely, but he cant tell. he refers things like this to a man ghe trusts, and asks if we should have him tow it over. To this we agree. In addition to not charging us for what diagnostics he was able to do, Chris rides us into OshKosh for our rental car, leaving work early to get us there on time.
The next gig was, likewise, a success, thanks to the kind acts of people we never met before today.
Let me take a moment to say if you ever need a car and you're near OshKosh Wisconsin, Le Dioyt Body Works of Berlin is a fine, fine place to stop.
